Cow & Gate, Thrifting and Steampunk

Ahhhh sunshine
Not billowy summer warm, but sunny sunny all the same. It was a less manic week here in Studio Moose. I try not to panic when I’m not run off my feet (normal I think if you are running your own business) this is a good time to take stock, prepare for the next jobs and plan new projects.
This week we are beginning an exciting new project with Cow & Gate. You may have seen some social media and press about it. You can see more and take part on their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/cowandgateuk. We will be creating framed “doodles” for the competition winners. The first one is going out this week.

During the sunny week I managed to squeeze in some charity shop rummaging. Stockbridge in Edinburgh has some great shops and I managed to pick up some fab pieces. I know some people don’t like  buying second hand, but all the pieces are clean (I wash them again anyway) and you can get some really unusual vintage & designer clothes for a bargain.
An old friend celebrated her birthday at a fabulous new steampunk themed restaurant in North Berwick. The food was fabulous, the location amazing and I will definitely be back! It was great to catch up and see some folk I haven’t seen for about 20 years (ahem). If you are in the area you must check them out: The Roastery in Kirk Ports. www.steampunkcoffee.co.uk. They do a mean bag of coffee that I bought on the night. All roasted on the premises.

Copenhagen

Well I am determined to maintain regular blogging…once a week at least. I was lucky enough to have a long weekend in Copenhagen recently, which was fabulous. Such a stylish city and the Danes are so friendly and full of fun. I really had to restrain myself with the fab Danish design, my bag was just not big enough! (I’ll just have to go back). Everything in the studio is a little quieter at the moment, even though open studios are on in May and we are prepping madly for that and a few big clients in the pipeline. With the lovely sunny weather we have been able to get out and start preparing the space outside the studio for summer – all go!

Pigs

Well, another long time since we blogged. Just not enough hours in the day sometimes. We had a busy year in 2013, with lots of new corporate clients. One of which, at the end of the year, was RBS. They have developed a new pig character to encourage children to save their pennies, similar to the NatWest pigs (for those that can remember them!). The pig characters were created by children and the winning design has been made into an animated short by Aardman, which you can see here.
I was very honoured to be asked to make all the runners up. All 45 of them! If you follow me on social media, you may have seen random “pig” posts. They were all completed and sent to the lucky children at the beginning of January.
